The Denver Broncos will kick off the 2019 season by facing the Atlanta Falcons in the Hall of Fame Game at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium on Thursday, August 1.
It will be a week of celebration for the Broncos in Ohio with owner Pat Bowlen finally inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, along with former cornerback Champ Bailey who, like the Falcons’ Tony Gonzalez, is a first-ballot inductee.
“With Mr. Bowlen and Champ Bailey part of this year’s induction class, it’s an honor for the Broncos to play in the Hall of Fame Game,” head coach Vic Fangio told the Denver Broncos website.
“We’re looking forward to seeing a lot of Broncos fans in Canton, and it’s also special for us to help kick off the NFL’s 100th season. Football-wise, it gives our team an extra week of training camp and additional practices that we’ll use to our advantage.”
The confirmation from the NFL means the Broncos will have five preseason games in Vic Fangio’s first season as head coach.
With an early start to the season, the Broncos and Falcons will begin their training camp early.
The Broncos’ last appearance in the game was in 2004 when John Elway entered the Hall.
