Von Miller should have a big game against Browns

After two road games, the Broncos return to Mile High looking to get back to .500 after a defeat to San Francisco.

We rounded up Broncos Europe TV’s Michael McQuaid and Colum Cronin to give their thoughts ahead of a rare Saturday game during the regular season as the Broncos host the improving Cleveland Browns.

How much does this game matter in the context of the Broncos’ season?

Michael: Unfortunately, it’s doubtful that this Broncos team will now make the playoffs. However, it’s important to try and get back to an even record and hit 7-7 and work from there.

The game against Oakland next week is very winnable so the Broncos should do what they can to win out.

Colum: There was hope and belief amongst fans before last week’s game against the 49ers that the Broncos could make the playoffs.

George Kittle trampled all over that.

In sport, it’s important to respond to adversity so it’ll be interesting to see what happens tonight.

Whoever loses this game is officially out of the playoffs and, with that much on the line, both sides will likely take chances at times.

Key Matchups?

Michael: It’s going to be really exciting to see Von Miller go up against Baker Mayfield. A number of us would have loved Denver to have drafted Mayfield, but it wasn’t to be. He’s a great player.

Running back Nick Chubb has given a new edge to this Cleveland team and it will take a big effort from the Broncos defense — including cousin Bradley Chubb — to stop him.

Courtland Sutton vs the expectations of being WR1

How do the Broncos win?

Colum: The Broncos need to contain Baker Mayfield, who is a better QB than Nick Mullins and had a better arsenal of weapons.

Von Miller will likely be a bear with a sore head following Vance Joseph’s criticism last weekend, expect him to have a big game and get to Mayfield.

The team has to get the run game going this week. The 49ers shut down Phillip Lindsay last week and the Broncos offense looked lost at times.

Michael: By using the run effectively. Lindsay again needs to have a great game. Players like Courtland Sutton and DaeSean Hamilton also must be a factor with Emmanuel Sanders out.

Michael: Broncos 27-14 Browns

Colum: The Broncos will be angry after a flat performance in California and won’t want the Browns coming to the Mile High City and escaping with a win. Broncos edge a high scoring game 31-27.
