Broncos expected to name starting QB Monday

Following the Broncos victory in Santa Clara on Saturday evening, Mike Klis announced on Twitter that Broncos Head Coach Vance Joseph will speak at a press conference on Monday, 13:15 local time. This is expected to feature an announcement on the starting QB for the season.

FYI: Press conference timings: 2015 BST, 2115 CEST.

The big question is – who will be named the starter? Paxton Lynch or Trevor Siemian? All scenarios point to Trevor Siemian being named the Broncos starter on Monday. While Paxton Lynch has shown a few moments of positive play – the two practices with the San Francisco 49ers and the final two weeks of the Broncos offseason program, Trevor Siemian has taken his chance, and has performed well, especially in the 49ers game on Saturday, where he went 8-for-11 for 89 yards and one touchdown with a 128.2 rating.

Overall, to this point it looks as if Paxton Lynch has shown that while he has got talent, he still needs time to develop effectively in the NFL – which could take another season. While Siemian has had some difficulties operating the new system implemented by Mike McCoy, he has transitioned well and is the clear favourite to be named starter on Monday.
