Devontae Booker out six weeks with wrist injury

Broncos running back Devontae Booker is set to miss six weeks due to a wrist injury.

The news was originally reported late Wednesday by Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio. The Denver Post’s Nicki Jhabvala has reported Booker suffered a hairline fracture, according to one source.

The injury was suffered late in OTAs in June and continued to bother Booker when he reported to Broncos training camp on Wednesday.

With surgery required, time in the training room will be a big blow for the second-year running back, who is looking to establish his presence in a crowded room.

Jamaal Charles continues to be worked back slowly from his 2016 knee troubles and rookie De’Angelo Henderson will hope to see get reps alongside Bernard Pierce and Juwan Thompson, who are also fighting to make the 53-man roster.

Rookie wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie could also see time at running back during training camp if the Broncos choose not to bring in a short-term replacement.

Ian Rapoport notes that the Broncos will not make an immediate decision on PUP status:

Keep up to date with training camp as Broncos Europe will have live coverage throughout the duration, starting on July 27.
